Abstract: Der Band verbindet im ersten Teil die wirtschaftlichen Entwicklungen des 15. Jahrhunderts, das Leben des Kirchenpolitikers und Gelehrten Nikolaus von Kues sowie die Reflexionen über Geld und Arbeit in seinen Briefen, Predigten und Schriften. Durch sich ergänzende Blickwinkel der (Wirtschafts-)Geschichte, der politischen Theorie, der Philosophie und der Theologie wird sichtbar, wie sich Cusanus mit dem ökonomischen Denken seiner Zeit auseinandergesetzt hat. Im zweiten Teil enthält der Band den Text der Cusanus-Lecture von 2021 über Johannes von Segovia sowie einen Aufsatz über „Cusanus 1453“, der mit dem „Helena Klotz-Makowiecki-Preis für wissenschaftliche Arbeiten zur Cusanus-Forschung“ ausgezeichnet wurde. Abstract: Can literature be investigated through quantitative methods? Can style, empathy, and prestige be measured? This study attempts to respond to these questions by providing results from a selection of case studies taken from German literature of the 19th through the 21st century, including Goethe's "late style", Felix Salten, and the output of contemporary writers such as Florian Meimberg's "twitterature" and Daniel Glattauer's e-mail novel. Altogether, this study shows how the interplay among literary theory, stylometry, stylistics, sentiment analysis, empirical studies, and archival research can offer new answers to old questions regarding German literature and provide tools to formulate new questions and novel approaches to research.(Umschlagtext)
